Author Archives: Saint Adalbert

From the News:

Established by Polish immigrants in 1886, St. Adalbert Basilica has long been an iconic structure in what, for generations, was known as Polonia on Buffalo’s East Side. The church’s intricate stained-glass windows were imported from Germany and its magnificent altar has carved marble railings, sculpted angels above it and a detailed sculpture of the Last Supper adorned with gold mosaic tile along the base of the altar. The parish was designated a basilica in 1907 – the first in the United States to receive the designation. Today, Mass is celebrated in the basilica four times a year. The next Mass will be held at 3 p.m. on April 8- another Mass is set for 5:30 p.m. April 28 to celebrate the Feast of St. Adalbert.

Please join us for mass on Christmas Eve at St. Adalbert Basilica. This children's and family mass is a beautiful tradition and we look forward to welcoming old friends and new to celebrate with us!

Kolędy with our special guest Ms. Brittany Mruczek will begin at 3:30 pm, with mass beginning at 4:00pm. Brittany will be singing at the mass as well.

Our celebrant is Rev. Michael H. Burzynski.

All children are welcome to participate in the Christmas story; please arrive by 3:30 and check in and your child can be in the play!

We'll also continue the tradition of our Memory Trees. Please contact us if you'd like to hang an ornament on the tree for a recently deceased loved one.

Candles from our Remembrance Mass will be lit at the mass, and of course the Basilica will be decorated for Christmas!

There's nothing like Christmas Mass in the Old Neighborhood at one of the most beautiful houses of worship in all of WNY.
